Mark Gowing Studio have over 25 years experience as industry leaders specialising in visual identity and cultural design. With the belief that communication is as much about feeling as it is about clarity, the studio have consistently created sensitive outcomes based on combinations of logic and emotional understanding.

Established in 1997, Mark Gowing Studio have produced projects for cultural and commercial organisations including the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Candalepas Associates, Seoul Museum of Art, Artspace Sydney, Entertainment One, Hopscotch Films, Kaldor Public Art Projects, Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, JCDecaux, Sydney Opera House, Warp Records, Powerhouse Museum, Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery, Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation, Sydney Film Festival, Universal Music, Artspace Sydney, University of Technology Sydney and the Venice Art Biennale.

The work of Mark Gowing Studio has been exhibited and published around the world and has received numerous international awards from staples such as D&AD, Graphis, the New York Type Directors Club and the Tokyo Type Directors Club. In 2008 Mark Gowing became the first Australian to win a Gold Medal at the prestigious International Poster Biennale in Warsaw, which was followed by a Golden Bee at the Global Biennale of Graphic Design in Moscow in 2010 and a Gold Medal at the 12th International Poster Biennial in Mexico in 2012. In 2018 the studio’s work was featured in the publication The History of Graphic Design, Vol. 2, 1960–Today and the studio’s poster design is surveyed in the publication Mark Gowing: Inside the Oblong. Gowing is a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale and his work is held in numerous institutional collections including the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum in New York, USA.

Mark Gowing is an artist and typographer working on Gadigal/Wangal country, Sydney, Australia. He is the founder and director of Mark Gowing Studio and The Letters, a type company specialising in expressive fonts. He is co-founder and creative director of the groundbreaking music arts organisation Longform Editions, and was founder of the landmark arts publisher Formist Editions (2013–2024).
